THE CHALLENGE

Commissioned by SABC, South Africa’s public broadcaster, the goal was simple:
Create a show that feels as warm as your auntie’s Sunday lunch but still competitive enough to make viewers sweat like a contestant hoping for fully cooked chicken at the judging table. 

The show needed to be:

• Entertaining...duh.

• Accessible to all South Africans (especially underrepresented communities)

• A celebration of South African culinary diversity

MY ROLE

• Structured story edit​​​​​​​ based on the Director’s format script and SABC’s notes

• Rhythmic editing: heartbeat-quick cuts during countdowns, reaction close-ups, and tension-filled plating shots (and there were plenty!)

• Sound design: natural SFX, kitchen clinks, gasp-worthy gasps, and whispered confessions caught on lav mics (again, there were plenty!)

• Promo & teaser cuts for social and broadcast

• Final delivery: Clean master with sponsor boards, GFX, and platform-ready formats
